Several years ago, the Yankee Silversmith Inn was purchased by the Mesite (sp?) family of Meriden (also own Villa Capri, south quarter-mile). A few years ago, there was a fire in the kitchen. Although the building was not consumed in the blaze, the property was declared unsalvageable. The building was razed, the old train car sent to a museum in Willimantic and the property was left as a dirt parking lot for overflow from the adjacent Sonic restaurant. So, if you go, there's nothing to see except teeny-boppers who will rollerskate your Sonic order out to your car... Sorry!
