Church Lester was a moonshiner in the early 1900's. He was your friend , very loyal if you didn't cross him . He was indited in a Tenn . court for the bombing ( huge mistake) murder of two little girls. The person who was supposed to be killed was the father of these little girls who just happened not to be home when this terrible act happened. He was found guilty , of course, and sentenced to die . However, before this could be carried out , he was found hung in his cell..... With his hands tied behind his back. he was laid to rest in his family cemetary and I actually have a photograph of a spirit coming OR going from his gravestone. It is strange , it is real, and it is scary.
Comments for The Church Lester Grave in Pikeville , Tennessee
I wasn't trying to take credit for your photo , Tiffany and Sherry ! I found it amazing and real. I simply thought it was one of the most genuine pictures I had ever seen and thought others should see it. I knew it was most likely real because neither one or the other is bright enough to fake it. Sherry was busy looking at lady slippers and tif snapping pics so they didn't realize what they had until they looked back.

More on Church Lester by: Earline VanWinkle Young
Church Lester was my 2nd cousin. His mother, Mary Hancock Lester was a sister to my grandmothers, Ethel Hancock VanWinkle and Barbara Hancock Boring.
Anyone ever wonder who killed Church Lester? Remember according to newspaper articles, he "hang himself" with his hands tied behind his back.
A side note: Church's daddy Frank (F.M.) Lester was a Church of Christ preacher. Church was born in a church in Alabama!

Tombstone OrbNEW by: Family Friend
The spirit orb is NOT going into the headstone of Church Lester. He does not have a standing headstone. His is the flat type on the ground. The spirit vortex is going INTO the headstone of one marked "THURMAN". The photo was taken while the grandmother was looking at the headstones of the Lester parents. This is an example of the incorrect info put out on the internet by people who were not involved in the incident and are trying to come up with a good story without any of the true facts about a photograph. The photo is very compelling and that is why the person who took it had it copyrighted. In the case of possible spiritual photos, it is important that info is factual and nothing fabricated. The two people who had the incident are the only ones who can give an accurate account of this incident. Church Lester was a very colorful man and he did have some good qualities in spite of the bad things he did. I hope he found some peace and forgiveness after his death from his maker.

Cemetery photoNEW by: Anonymous
My Aunt and Grandmother made the trip to the Lester Cemetery and the photo was sent to Linda Nichols and she was asked to not take credit for the photo. She was not there, she did not take the photo. And the person in the photo is indeed my grandmother.

Church Lester cemetery photoNEW by: Anonymous
The Church Lester Cemetery Photo mentioned in the Linda Nichols comment was taken by Tiffany Hall when she and her mother made a trip to see the actual cemetery. It is a copyrighted photo and can only be shared by the person who took the photo. It is genuine because they were there and took the actual photo.

Murderer of the RectorsNEW by: Anonymous
Church Lester was also named as "one" of the murderers of my great grandfather, Jesse Rector, his son, York Rector and his pregnant wife, Martha Rector. When I took my mother to see these three graves, she was telling me the story about her uncle York Rector, when I zoomed in on his man made tombstone. Not until we arrived back home in Florida and played back the tape, did we see that when I zoomed in, the tombstone actually moved or fell back right at the second she said his name. freaky!
