It is now a national park, but used to be old native american camping grounds. An old army from the civil war days told the Native Americans to leave. They did not want to leave their land, and were threatend to leave or be killed. The medicine man told them if that were to happen he would put a curse on the land. The Native Americans were all murdered, and the curse is known to be real.
