I have never stayed at the Ruebel but have heard stories of footsteps in the halls and whispers from people who are familiar with the place. Built in the 1800's in the River town of Grafton,Illinois, the building still stands and is a popular tourist stop.

The Ruebel was a nice place to stay while on a river trip from Peoria to St. Louis. We stayed there three nights and slept quite well with no ghosts stopping by. Mo was very gracious to us, having breakfast on Monday and Tue. morning early so we could explore both North and South of Grafton. I would stay there again. It was about a 5-6 block walk from the Grafton Harbor Marina to the hotel.

The Ruebel Hotel, to this day is a functioning, 21 room Hotel with Restaurant and Bar!!!

It is owned and operated by Mo & Karen Kaheem and their son,Cyrus. It is beautifully restored and open for business 7 days a week.
It has a wonderful staff and great place to stay when visiting Grafton.
