Nashville, Putnam Library

The library was a house many years ago and there have been at least 5 deaths consisting of both homicides and suicides.


A maid once had an affair with the Putman nephew and when she found out she was pregnant at 16, she hung herself upstairs. Mrs. Putnam gave birth to twin boys who both died soon after birth.

Finally, Mr. Putnam went crazy and killed his wife and himself with his rifle. Whenever I go in the library I get an intense feeling of saddness and confusion.

This isn't accurate at all. The maid, Gertrude Beigh shot herself with Frank Smith gun, but noone knows why. Charles Putnam was dying from tuberculosis and shot himself in the carriage house. His wife lived MANY years after him and they are both burried at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville along with Gertrude.

Oh my gosh. The first time I ever heard of Charles Putnam is a week ago at my musical performance. I heard a girl named Molly and her friend talking about this ghost. Here is what I heard: "Charles Putnam does not posses people or do any harm. If he does anything weird, it is just to play with your mind. And I can tell you this, I honor Charles!" After Molly said all of that, she was telling me more and more about him. And guess what? At our backstage, there are 2 levels. NOBODY goes on the 2nd level, because that is where Charles lives now. Me and my 2 friends are hunting him down. He answered us 4 times. He really just moved stuff. It was kind of creepy, but we knew he was a good ghost. He haunts the Library and ther theater/ acting place...... :D

He had spoke very quietly once. Oh, and if you are wondering why he haunts the theater, it is because he loves acting and singing. Now, just to tell you, I didn't read anything above, so some of this could be true and non-true. Your welcome for the things! Oh, and know this.

I just learned about this today! a man who has been coming here along time told me this story so I had to look it up. I have never ever ever got the goosebumps, maybe I will now that I know this happened. I guess that would be because now I know. i got the same feeling when i walk into there but i also feel anger. and one day i went upstairs cause they had books for sale but when i was there i could hear footsteps going back and forth.
but i just get a really bad vibe when im there.
