Hill City High School, Hill City South Dakota

While attending Hill City High in the '80s, we had all heard the stories, as well as the embellishments of those stories.

Embellishments aside, I know I am not alone in having experienced temperature changes, footsteps, unexplained noises, etc. in the High School building.

While staying after school to use the library on several occasions, I heard the distinct sound of footsteps along with the sound of the floor creaking- not "shifting building" noises, but a rhythmic, regular sound of footsteps.

One could have explained this had the steps stopped in the next room, despite the fact that no one else was on the top floor at that time, but the steps came from the adjoining room (which was then the typing class/study hall) and continued into the room I was in!

(keep in mind, I know without a doubt that no one was on the floor at that time- it was imperative to keep an eye on that fact, since I was playing Wizardry on the brand new (showing my age) Apple II c computer!

Besides this, there were several other times at different places in the building when I would experience footsteps, voices, doors opening and closing, and other things.
