It is said that a boy once lived in this house and was constantly bullied by kids at his school and abused time to time by his parents. He finally had enough an hung himself in his closet for his parents to find. Everyone who has tried to live at this house ends up leaving due to feeling uncomfortable, moved furniture, voices, or noises. It is now an abandoned building swarmed with trees and grass consuming it with the numbers "6...6...6" painted in red amoung the front window. It is a big ghost story in Fort Myers and though there are countless stories and experiences about it (including cars not starting and high pitched voices and screams), documented information is difficult to find.

I want to start with saying that I am no author so bare with me. I visited this house when I was in my early 20's. I had my best friend over and we were looking for something to do. We Googled haunted houses in Fort myers and found this place. Pulling up, the grass was high, we had to move a fallen tree from the driveway so we could pull in. It was day time so not too scary. We were able to get inside. Now this was many years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday. This is the memory that changed me forever. Inside was pretty bland.. I was searching for something intense, but it wouldn't come until later. My friend and I explored the inside. I went upstairs while she stayed downstairs. I did not find a rope upstairs but while I was up there i heard her gasp. I came running back down and she was pointing outside. There were a couple of teenage boys standing in the yard with freaked out faces I'm guessing bc they saw movement inside. I said hi and asked a few questions about the house. They said there were parties held here but they didn't know much other than it being haunted. They wanted to finish exploring with us. Now what happened next still gives me an eery feeling. We landed in the garage at one point. It was the last room. As we opened the door, a ladder stood below the attic door. It was like a setup. Like something was calling you in. I was like nope and offered $20 to whomever would go video tape. No one took it soooooo, I went. I had my phone flash light looking around and saw a bunch of random things.. a treadmill, scuba equipment, etc. It was dark. I was up to my chest in the attic not touching anything but just looking full 360. I FELT something in there. Now this may have been the moment I started believing in ghosts and spirits, I don't quite remember, but what happened later definitely cemented those beliefs. I felt extremely weird, unwelcomed almost. I got out of there fast. At the time it was a scary feeling but hey, after all, it is what I came to explore. Long story shorter, my best friend and I went on the hunt for a ouji board. We went to target and they didn't sell them so we called Walmart and they didn't sell them. We ended up making our own with a notebook a pen and a Starbucks lid. Then we went back to the house. At this point it was dark and it was absolutely terrifying. We literally couldn't get out of the car.. couldn't use the ouji board, we were actually really scared. So we decided to make short video tapes INSIDE the car lol. We talked about our explorations of the day and showed what we could of the house without getting out of the car. At a certain point one of our phones stopped video taping so we were down a phone. BUT the other phone stopped working shortly after. When this happened, we decided it was time to go. We got back to my place and decided to drink some wine and watch the videos. Turns out both videos show ORBS! Fucking orbs!!! Flying around outside the car window. Coming up to the window!! We called a friend who was into this stuff and he explained orbs are spirits. Ok. Well. Mind blown. Next he says something along the lines of if you have no markings you're good?? WTF I shit you not, I found 3 scratches on each arm. 3. I went to bed that night thinking of the nights events and I woke up somewhere around 3 hearing weird growling noises. This was not a freaking dog. I legit moved out of the apartment as my lease was up in another month bc of these events. Its my go to "ghost" story. But the thing is its all very real to me. That noise was evil. This was something else. I never really faced what this meant or why this happened and I'm hoping maybe my story will help me face this memory that occurred many years ago but still sticks with me like it was yesterday.

There is not a house here any more. Property is owned by an investment group that apparently had the house torn down. Please note that this is private property so don't trespass.

SAw nothing haunted about this drug house. Ghosts, spirits etc would not waste their eternity haunting this full blown mess. I am ESP challenged. trust me, this house is just an unfortunate listing. However, 116 E N Shore Ave. NFM is certifiably haunted.

I remember this house since I was little, growing up near it. It's as old as my parents house. I watched someone move in and try to add a addition to the right side of the orginal house. They got as far as putting the concrete block up with a roof and then they left.
I've been in this house 2 different times, the first in the early 90s and last about 10yrs ago. Our parents knew of a hanging in the house but never gave us details besides the owner being a wack job and not to go near that house. So of course that just made us want to go inside even more.

When us kids were in middle school, we would just go inside and stand in the wooden part of the house (left) originally a very small house, but as we stood there, we would hear moving above us, def you would here noises and a super creepy feel over you. None of us dare to go visit the house at night. Maybe my older brothers have better story's then I do.

I do remember walking home from school and seeing a dark figure standing at the front door way, the door was always open. It was almost like something wanted you to enter with it being open. I ran home as fast as I could.

I never went into that house again until I was older and courageous enough with my boyfriend. It was during the middle of the day and nothing happen.

Def stay out of the house, it just needs to be left alone. The owners know what happen in that house and don't want anyone in it for a reason.

A short period of time ago a couple of us went here and got our trip on film. We went in the back door which use to be sliding glass but it's all busted and the first thing written above the back door is "death will soon follow" also inside are tags that say "Ted bundy" the mass murder. We saw an upside down cross with the quote "I see you" .... Needless to say this place is sketchy, I didn't hear or see anything to out of the ordinary but then again I didn't make it up stairs too creeped out

Every previous story about the origin of this house is wrong. My parents are real estate agents and I, like many of you saw this place and wanted to know more, the truth. Due to my parents being Real Estate Agents, I am able to find a lot out about houses, and this one...hasn't been lived in since 1972. If any of you have bought a house where an inhabitant was murdered during the previous ownership, you'd know that the previous owners would be legally obligated to tell you, and have it publicly listed if the house was to be for sale. It was indeed listed, and the victim was the most recent owner Jean Ballantine.

Looking up the police report on her death, I learned that Jean Ballantine was a foster-mother, and like many, had different children filter in and out of her home. However there were other murders listed that had included her name when I searched her, and yet she had no part in any of them, only that the murders where apparently committed by children who were dispersed to other families following her brutal murder. These murders were all committed in the master bedroom where every inhabitant of the house was killed, excluding the Jean foster children who have not been seen since they were sent to their new families.

It is not unlikely that many of you, or your parents are familiar with the Ballantine name, they're almost a Fort Myers celebrity because suspiciously enough following this string of murders shows that the Ballantine name now owns every single house that had a family murdered by one of the Ballantine children, and each house as forsaken as the rest.

Like the families murder, Jean was found dead in the master bedroom. that would be the big room on the right side of the house, if you were interested.

This place does have one or more spirits in it. I know this because my friend recorded a video of him standing still and looking at the house, when he returned home he loaded it onto his computer and heard footsteps running around him, also saw a what seemed to be a demon looking out of the window, the house is VERY old and we all wonder why would it be such a big deal to just look at it if there was NOTHING there? Further investigation will prove them wrong and therefore the owner will not allow ANY licensed "ghost hunters" into his property, we also wonder why he is such an angry individual as soon as people ask question....

I think it's crap that you all add this to Haunted places. Because of so called rumors about the place. If you read the comments the owner himself states that nothing tragic has ever taken place here. It's obvious that the people who have posted this and that keep trespassing and vandalizing the place are a punch of young punks that don't know shit. You all say the owner is a Douche but you all don't know the owners current situation. And that defiantly doesn't give anyone the right to go on to the owners property. House was built in 1970 it's a beautiful place rather it's maintained or not. I do photography myself and find places like this eye moving. I would love to know who the owner of the place is. And perhaps get permission just to capture something so beautiful.

Went to check out this property at dusk. We pulled up on the side of the road and walked up the path to the front door. As mentioned before, the "666" painted on the front window gave us goose bumps. Finding the front door unlocked was another surprise. The door opened with the slightest touch and with trepidation most of our group turned on their flashlights and entered.

While most of the group was inside, the 6-year-old and I walked around the east side of the house to check out the back area. The side walls are unfinished, and we noted a large neatly-stacked pile of stones waiting to be installed.

I noted several pieces of scaffolding, as if someone had recently been working on the house. On closer inspection, the vines and shrubbery growing over the pipes indicated they'd been undisturbed for a long time.

I had a very uneasy feeling as I walked toward the very dark and cluttered back porch, so we backed off and left that exploration for a sunny afternoon.

Also of note is a dark, wide-open shed at the back of the property - again, something to explore when there is more light.

I found it interesting that there is no mailbox or driveway on the property. The west side of the yard has been recently mowed, but we attributed that to the neighbors, whose side yard abuts this property; they probably maintain part of the yard for their aesthetics.

This is definitely a place I'd like to spend more time exploring and researching!

The inside looks like a crack house with graffiti everywhere. It was scary walking up to the dorr but after you are inside it is not scary at all. No rope upstairs either.

Went into this house! Front door was opened,its a huge house. Hanging in the upstairs closet was a rope! A blanket laying on the couch. Wierd. My daughter felt sometimes pulling on her belt and right before leaving heard a loud bang. The outside covered with brushes and trees, so spooky looking. The house is beautiful inside. Writtings on all the walls, bad things about God and the devil. Neighbors say its haunted and owners cant anyone to stay there because of the problems,noises and screams. Worth checking out!!!!! First house I ever seen that looked so scary. Wow

My family was in town for summer vacation and decided to have some fun and just drive by this house one night. This house sits vacant within a nice neighborhood, but the house stands out by having no mailbox and being surrounded by bushes and trees. It was really creepy at night. However, when we went the next day on the way back from the beach, we saw the '666' painted in red on the window on the left, but the weirdest thing was that the front door was cracked open even though it had been closed the night before. It's worth checking out if you want to get spooked.
